The rose bowl is usually played between a big 10 team and a PAC 12 team. This year it is used for play off matches between the top 4 teams and there is both a PAC 12 team and a big 10 team in the top 4 and yet they are not going to play each other in the rose bowl. Instead it is going played by Oregon who is at least a PAC 12 team and Florida state. This will be Florida states first appearance. This however will be Oregon's 7th appearance, although Oregon has been here 6 times they have a record of 2-4 which is not the best for this team.
This Oregon has a 12-1 record with their only loss is to Arizona, they then played Arizona again for the PAC-12 championships were I believe Oregon redeemed themselves by crushing Arizona 51-13. Florida state has an undefeated record of 13-0. People do say that Florida state should not be ranked in the top 4 because the conference that they are in is almost the equivalent to a MAC conference and yet Florida state barely wins these games.
Its going to be interesting to see how Florida state will be able to play against this high passing team led by Heisman trophy winner Marcus Mariota. With Oregon high passing team averaging at 308.9 yards per game and Florida state allowing an average of 218.2 passing yards per game it is going to be open season for the Oregon offense unless the Florida state defense steps up their game. On the flip side with Florida states offense averaging about 299.8 passing yards per game and Oregon allowing 259.5 passing yards per game this could turn into an easy 50+ point game for Florida state. What it's gonna come down to is that the team who can best stop the pass is gonna win the game.
